2007. Project for a self-contained research centre in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park (rural NSW, Australia). Tia Gorge has 1000km2 of rare "dry rainforest", a landscape of great scientific importance rendered inaccessible by its remoteness. Given the lack of infrastructure (the site is 200km from the nearest town), a services core made from rammed-earth negotiates the site contours, with a steel and wooden frame attached. Imagined already as a ruin, in time the region's frequent, and intense, bushfires will leave only a concrete ribbon in the landscape. Third year B.Arch project at UNSW under Glenn Murcutt.
